HSBC Value Partners
has appointed former UBS senior manager Stefan Lecher (pictured) as regional head of investments and wealth solutions for Asia-Pacific, taking effect from 3 October.
Lecher will be based in Hong Kong, reporting to Lavanya Chari, global head of IWS, the UK/Hong Kong-listed banking group said in a statement yesterday.
Over a period of 17 years, Lecher worked in different roles in UBS's global wealth management and asset management business lines. Most recently, he was head chief investment officer for global investment management in Asia-Pacific.
, the Hong Kong-listed investments firm, has appointed Winnie Lam as its managing director in the chief operating officer’s office.
Lam is responsible for managing the firm’s overall operations and back-office functions. She reports directly to the group’s co-chairmen and co-chief investment officers Dato’ Seri Cheah Cheng Hye and Louis So.
Lam has more than 30 years’ experience in the fund management and financial services industry across Asia. Most recently, she spent 14 years as head of operations, Asia at First Sentier Investors (formerly known as First State Investments), based in Hong Kong. Before this, Lam has worked in various senior positions in fund management companies, investment banks and financial services firms, including Lloyd George Management, JP Morgan Securities and American Express.
Separately, Value Partners has appointed Nikita Ng as finance director. She is responsible for leading the finance function of the group. She has broad experience in the industry, with a particular focus in financial reporting, internal control assessment and corporate transactions, combined with strong regulatory knowledge.
She was most recently a financial controller at Fortress Investment Group and Mount Kellett Capital, a multi-strategy investment firm.
Icy Wong, the group’s chief financial officer and chief administrative officer, is departing the group in early August to pursue other opportunities.
Value Partners was founded in 1993, overseeing $13.1 billion as at the end of May. In addition to its Hong Kong headquarters, the firm operates in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and London.
DWS Group
has named Vanessa Wang as head of client coverage for Asia-Pacific, effective 1 September.
Based in Hong Kong, Wang joins from Amundi and will lead all coverage teams of DWS in the Asia-Pacific region, providing investment solutions to institutional and wholesale clients and partners. She will report to Dirk Goergen, head of DWS’s client coverage division and member of the executive board of DWS Group, who is based in Frankfurt.
Wang has worked in the financial sector for more than two decades, starting her career at Mercer where she spent 15 years advising and working on retirement-related matters before leading the business division itself as partner and Asia head of retirement, risk and finance. Wang later joined Citigroup as a managing director and Asia-Pacific head of pensions, where she worked across various Citi Markets and Securities Services teams to advance pension fund investments and solutions.
She has worked at Amundi since 2016, working in two positions: senior MD and head of institutional business in the US, and head of institutional business in North Asia.
